General School

Correct Uniform Reminder:

This is a friendly reminder of our expectations around wearing the correct uniform. With the change in weather there are a few additional or incorrect items creeping in and/or some 'fashion' related ways of wearing the uniform.

Some if these items are:

  • socks  - no logos or footy socks
  • track pants - range of blue colours, some black and non school track pants. We now expect students to be wearing our MRC track pants if they are wearing PE uniform to school or on excursions.
  • Long-sleeved tops under white shirts/PE shirts. If students are wearing long sleeves under their short sleeve tops, then they need to be wearing their jacket or jumper.

Our uniform has a great range and is comfortable and looks respectful. Please continue to wear it respectfully.

Also a remind people that there is a FB Buy, Swap and Sell page that you can utilize.

Junior School

Bullying Discussion with the Police Youth Liaison Team(Rescheduled):

Next Wednesday 27 August, the Police Youth Liaison Team will be visiting our school to speak with staff and students about bullying. Their presentation will focus on understanding what bullying is, its impact, and how we can all play a part in creating a safe and respectful school community. This is a valuable opportunity for our students to hear from experienced officers who work closely with young people, and to learn practical strategies for preventing and addressing bullying.

Discovery Day:

On Monday 25 August, we will be welcoming the confirmed and potential 2026 Year 7 students to our campus for Discovery Day. These students will travel to us on the school bus and spend the day experiencing what it’s like to be a part of our learning community. They will participate in classes and activities designed to reflect the way our students are taught and supported here at Mercy Regional College.

Year 8 Retreat Day – O'Keeffe Campus:

Our Year 8 students will take part in their Retreat Day at the O'Keeffe Campus. This special day provides students with the opportunity to reflect, connect with one another, and strengthen their sense of faith and community.

Co-Curricular Activities:

A reminder about out-of-school activities: If your child is not meeting the expectations outlined in the Mercy Sport Guidelines, this may affect their eligibility to participate on those days.

Kind regards

Stephanie Rose-Goodhall-  Assistant Principal O'Keeffe Campus

Tim Woodmason -  O'Keeffe Campus Assistant

Week 6:

Parent/Guardian Reminder – Student Equipment & Upcoming Leadership Opportunities:

We kindly ask all parents and guardians to check in with their students to ensure they have the necessary equipment for their classes. We've noticed quite a few empty pencil cases circulating lately—please make sure your child is stocked up with essentials like pens, scissors, glue sticks, and rulers. Having the right tools makes a big difference in staying organised and engaged in class.

Year 10 Leadership Presentation:

As Year 10 students prepare for their transition into Senior School, they will soon attend a leadership presentation outlining the exciting opportunities available for 2026 Year 11s. This session will highlight how students can get involved, contribute meaningfully to the school community, and grow as leaders.

And as Larry Bird wisely said, "If you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end." Let’s keep encouraging our students to give their best.

Kind regards

Adam Dowie & Georgia O’Leary - Middle Years Community Leaders

Year 11 Experience P.A.R.T.Y PROGRAM & Homelessness Experience:

The P.A.R.T.Y. Program has run at The Alfred since 2009 as an initiative of the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) (www.ntri.org.au). The "P.A.R.T.Y. at The Alfred" programs provides participants with an authentic experience to create insight into the consequences that patients and their families are faced with because of risk‐related trauma.

Participants engage with paramedics, doctors, nurses, allied health practitioners, patients and their families in the hospital or outreach setting. Learning occurs through a combination of classroom‐based information delivery, interactive scenario based learning and proactive demonstrations.

The P.A.R.T.Y (Prevent Alcohol & Risk-Related Trauma in Youth Groups) is a program that focuses on injury prevention. It takes students from an educational environment into a clinical environment showing first hand the consequences of a risk-taking behaviour.

More details will be provided in the coming week however, please click on the links below for some insight to the P.A.R.T.Y Program.

As the P.A.R.T.Y Program has constraints on numbers, the camp has been split into two Groups. The boys will attend week 7 - Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 September, whilst the girls will attend week 9 - Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September. An itinerary including any additional cost will be sent to parent shortly.
